  3. In 2008, ONC applied for small grant from AITC for education and outreach to 2,770 tribal members Application completed with help from ITEP’s indoor-air staff In application, planned to look at 20 tribal homes Old, newer, HUD homes ONC’s Indoor Air project

  4. Project Description • Environmental Program conducted education and outreach on preventing mold in homes • Each home given manual after coordinator finished counseling • Manual included: how mold grows, how to clean, how to prevent

  5. Project Description (cont.) • Educating homeowners on preventing mold • Info will be shared with local schools • Kids encouraged to pass information on to families

  6. Project Description (cont.) • Coordinator attended ITEP indoor air training • Majority of funding spent on • Technician salary • Education/outreach materials • Regular info in semi-weekly newspaper

  7. ONC creating homebuyers manual Working closely w/Housing Program Reviewing current homeowners manual, will add Info on mold Importance of HRVs (Heat Recovery Ventilators) and Gabel vents Project Description (cont.)

  8. Environmental Coordinator and housing staff will work with Regional Housing Authority once homeowner’s manual is completed They have shown strong interest in working with our program as well Current Status
