Methodology Public survey among 819 people who voted in the 2012 election (from voter files) (including 199 cell phone interviews) Member survey among 802 AFL-CIO members nationwide who voted in the 2012 election Working America survey among 827 members in 11 key states. All interviewing conducted November 5-6, 2012 by telephone Margins Of Error:Union members = ±3.5 percentage pointsGeneral Public = ±3.4 percentage pointsWA members = ±4.3 percentage points

I was trying to send this message with my vote: We should make sure the wealthy start paying their fair share of taxes We should reduce tax rates on taxpayers of all income levels We should protect Medicare and Social Security benefits from cuts We should reduce spending on Medicare and Social Security to bring down the budget deficit. 5

Voters Reject GOP Economic Agenda By 64% to 17%, voters say we should maintain Social Security and Medicare benefits, and address the deficit by increasing taxes on the rich, not address the deficit by reducing Social Security and Medicare Benefits. 72% of voters say corporations and wealthy individuals have too much influence in political system. By 55% to 38% voters want to end the Bush tax cuts for incomes over $250,000. 8
