  2. Uther’s Sin Causes Downfall • Uther Pendragon falls in love with Ygrain who is married • Merlin – spell; disguises Uther • Morgana le Fay – magical “sixth sense” • Uther killed in battle; leaves sword (Excalibur) into a stone • Ygrain gives birth to Arthur who is hidden with a farmer (Ector)

Humble Life • Arthur grows up as a simple farm boy • Merlin & Arthur become friends • Calls him “Wart” to remind him not to be proud • Raised as brothers with Ector’s son Kay who is strong • Kay fights in tournaments • Arthur forgets Kay’s sword • Pulls sword from the stone • Merlin tells everyone to follow him as he is the true king (still a boy) **Begins 10 years of battle for who will be true King Sword and the Stone Sword and the Stone Merlin convinces

King Arthur • Builds Camelot • Marries Guenevere (Disguises himself) • Arthur goes off and wins many wars (Bravery & Honor) • Meets Lancelot duLac in France • Fights him and loses • Wants Lancelot to be one of his knights (Humble) • Round Table: 150 men could sit at it • Purpose: Reduce proudness; promote chivalry • Everyone is equal (Humility) Arthur goes off and fights many wars

Morgana la Fey • Blames Merlin (spell) and Arthur (killed mother) • Dragon that Sleeps Under England • Merlin Frozen • Disguises herself as Guenevere (Gets Pregnant on Purpose) • Mordrid is her son • He is horrified and can’t tell anyone (Not perfect; Sins) • Morgana raises Mordrid to believe Arthur is evil and that it is his destiny to kill Arthur

  7. Mordrid • Morgana le Fay – Ages Mordrid with magic • Mordrid goes to Camelot to be a knight • Arthur knows who he is, but doesn’t have a son Mordrid and Morgana Challenge Arthur • Lancelot & Guenevere • Knights being banished (Arthur knows=Enemy: himself) • Had to fight, whoever won was innocent • Mordrid ousted them Gawain Accuses Queen (Knight’s Honesty)

  8. Arthur Has to Do Something • Heartbroken • Guenevere will be burned at the stake • Gives time for Lancelot to rescue her • Knights rise against Lancelot and chase him back to France • Guenevere becomes a nun • Arthur vs. Lancelot – neither wants to fight • Camelot is taken over by Mordrid and banished knights • Arthur returns to Camelot to fight and asks Lancelot to help • Mordrid vs. Arthur
