  2. The WWC Mission: “For over 30 years the WWC has been dedicated to preserving and restoring forest throughout Washington state through citizen empowerment, support for grassroots community groups, advocacy and public education. ” (wwc)

  3. What does the WWC do? • The WWC is a nonprofit organization that strives to bring people together to defend our remaining wild forests, waters and wildlife. • By bringing people together in a group effort the coalition has successfully aided in passing legislation.

  4. The Wild Sky Wilderness Act Signed into law in 2008 as part of a consolidated Natural Resources Act. This became the first new Washington State area of National Forest in 20years.

  5. The rejection of Mt. St. Helens mining The WWC worked for more then a year to get a proposed copper mine from General Moly rejected.

  6. Exposure of the federal plan to extinguish wolves in wilderness areas In 2006 the WWC lead a National effort that extended the comment period, which is forcing the Forest Service to reconsider their proposal.

  7. Working at the WWC • Researched the major employers for the counties encompassing the Olympic National Forest. • Enabling the WWC to target and draw support from the industries that drive the economy in these small counties. • Building an alliance for important forest and river decisions on the peninsula. • Data entry. • Updating their data base , of all the supporters who have written letters to Congressman Norm Dicks in support of the Olympics. • Mining research. • Working to create a plan, and search for a loop hole in the law, to stop the expansion of Unimin Corp.’s olivine ore mine.
