Water Statistic Division (WSD) • Water statistic division in PCBS was established in 1996, committed to release water data through reports and tables annually. • Access to water statistics with high quality is the vision of water statistics division in PCBS.

Water in Palestine • Palestine is experiencing a severe water crisis caused mainly by the lack control over the Palestinian water resources, and the limited available water resources. • Residents in Palestine are in dire need to alternative water resources.

Relations with Stakeholders Memorandum of understanding between PCBS and most of governmental ministries was signed. Statistical units in ministries and institutions. Training the statisticians and stakeholders in addition to exchange experiences. User producer dialogue
Water Statistics Dissemination Water statistics published on PCBS web site. Press releases were published on the world water day annually, available on PCBS web site. Statistical Year Book of Palestine.
IRWS and SEEA-W Adaptation • The main reason for adapting IRWS and SEEA-W is to reach to a sustainable water resources through interactions between economic and water resources. • Team of specialists to adapt the implementing of SEEA-W was establish in 2008 from PCBS and PWA. • The team tasks summarized in studying the water account tables, identifying the gaps or deficiencies of current data in order to looking for alternative data sources.
Constraints in Water Statistics • The continuous Israeli occupation to the Palestinian national water resources. • Poor coordination between ministries and institutions. • Lack of commitment from ministriesto provide the data in a required time. • In effective data from the administrative records. • The sharing of information about water in Palestine is censored due to political reasons.
Water Statistics Challenges Absence of data for many indicators mentioned in IRWS. Obstacles in obtaining data about water resources located in area C which is occupied by Israel. Censored indicators are still hidden due to political reasons.
Water Statistics Opportunities Ownership of water data to create water information system. Overcome challenges to reach a high quality water data that reflect the water situation in Palestine. Best estimates of data gaps, depending on international coefficients.
