  4. SURGEON GENERAL’S WARNING: Presenting packages before conducting an in-depth needs analysis may result in a lower closing ratio and long-term damage to your professional image. Packages are not inherently bad. However, we do not recommend beginning a meeting with a client with the phrase, “The reason I am here today is to tell you about our new package.” Know your client’s needs and objectives, and know how your package will address them before presenting.

Are they worth taking? • Create your plan. • Enlist your support group. • Implement with flexibility.

Economic Stimulus Checks • Retailers should be competing for these funds • For the concept to do what it was designed to do, consumers need to spend this money on consumer goods and services • Retail companies should help stretch these dollars even further by offering discounts on products purchased with the check • Station can sell packages that include a special page on the website listing companies offering these stimulus discounts

Click it and get a ticket! • Cross promotion between local auto dealers and a local theater chain • Listeners go to station website to download and print a “Click it and Get a Ticket” voucher. • They take the voucher to a participating auto dealer and test drive a car. The dealership validates the voucher. • Listener takes the voucher to the theater for a free ticket.

Fast Food • Cause Marketing • Teddy Bear Drive • Station sells title sponsorship to a fast food chain with multiple locations. • Station does a remote at each location . • Listeners are invited to come to the remote and donate a teddy bear . The bears will be given to children in crisis situations by police.

  28. 50,000 miles...and delicious! • Cross promotion with a tire dealer and a donut shop • Tire dealer offers free donuts and coffee to tire customers from open until 10:00 AM. • Tire dealer also offers a free dozen donuts with each purchase of 4 tires • Donut shop offers voucher good for a significant discount on 4 tires with purchase of 1 dozen or more • Can be underwritten by a specific tire manufacturer • Cross promotion partners mention each other in their commercials

Home Improvement • Cause Marketing • Co-op • A hardware store buys title sponsorship. • The title sponsor enlists co-sponsorships from manufacturers. • Station does a remote at hardware store where the co-sponsors and their products are featured. • Listeners are encouraged to volunteer to work at a Habitat for Humanity project. • After listeners complete their volunteer work, they receive a voucher. • The voucher is redeemable for big discounts on co-sponsors’ products.
