Stock Market Crash • Stocks were booming • Considered a time of prosperity • Crash happened at the end of the twenties • Lots of money was lost • Everyone was extremely disappointed
After affects of world war 1 • World War I had many long term effects on the growth and development of the United • The federal government grew tremendously as a result of the war. • created some 5,000 agencies during the course of the war. • Organized labor began to grow within the economy. • The incorporation of labor into federal decision-making processes made the AFL respectable.
PROHIBITION • Began January 16th 1920 • People were still able to buy alcohol in secret bars called “speakeasies” • AL Capone started his mob career bootlegging alcohol, thus making him one of the most notorious gangsters in the United States • People would try and make their own, but it often killed them. this never would have happened if it wasnt for prohibition..
PB&J • PB&J became very popular in the 20’s PB&J!
Women rights • Were given the right to vote due to the 19th amendment. • Woman also were given equal rights in the 20’s
