Due on Tuesday 4/20! Announcements and Other Important Dates: Funeral Speeches will be turned in for a Test/Project grade on: Tuesday - 4/20/10

Homework H O M E W O R K Write a sticky note reminder or place in agenda: • Write a funeral speech on 6 index cards. • The speech should be for an object NOT a person. • Examples: • Favorite beverage or food • Favorite type of technology • Speech must include the following elements: • Introduction (1) • Statement of Purpose (1) • Support of Purpose - 3 specific reasons (3) • Conclusion (1)

  5. Note Card Activity • Write your first and last name on the front of the card • Write a way for me to remember your name on the back • Ex. Rhyme: My name is Timothy Hall and I’m very tall. Acronym: Ed= Exciting & Devious Interesting fact: “I tried out for American Idol” *How you can remember my name, Ms. Buchanan: I share the same last name as the 15th President of the United States, James Buchanan

  6. Act 5 Summary Scene 1 N O N O T E S • Octavius and Antony enter with their army. They are pleased their enemy plans to come down from the hills and do battle with them rather than stay in defensive positions. • Antony and O. approach Brutus and Cassius to exchange insults and Cassius regrets he did not have Antony killed. • Cassius bids goodbye to Brutus in case they will fall in battle and asks what he will do if they lose. • Brutus says he would find it cowardly to kill himself.

  7. Act 5 Summary Scene 2 N O N O T E S • Plains of Philippi, the field of battle. • Brutus sends a messenger with instructions to Cassius' army to attack, since Octavious seems hesitant to fight.

Act 5 Summary Scene 3 N O N O T E S • Cassius sees his men seem to fly and misinterprets that they are retreating. • Cassius asks Titinius to see if troops in the distance are enemy or allies and asks his slave Pindarus to watch Titinius from the hill. • Pindarus calls down that Titinius is surrounded, which Cassius thinks means that his best friend has been taken by the enemy. • He asks Pindarus to kill him with his sword, which he does. Pindarus then flees. • Titinius returns and discovers the dead Cassius. • Brutus arrives where Cassius' body is. • Brutus sadly bids Cassius farewell and orders Cassius' body to be sent for burial. • He orders his men to return to battle.
