IEEE Region 10 SAC/WIE/GOLD Summary • The congress was organised on July 11-14, 2013 at Taj Krishna hotel Hyderabad – first time in a hotel • Registration fees was subsidized at USD $150 • There were 200 participants for the congress with more 107 participants outside India • All international student participants were given free Aakash tablet (Thanks to Mike Lightner, 2006 President) • The participation from India was un-even, some Sections had 90 registrations and other Sections were chased for participation (Pune, Bombay, Delhi, Gujrat) • It was shared accommodation and delegates were provided with good quality food
IEEE Region 10 SAC/WIE/GOLD Summary • Good representation from IEEE HQ and Region 10 (4 Presidents and several coordinators from R10) • Good non-IEEE representation such as Prof. D B Pathak from IIT Bombay, Prof. Ram Gopal Rao • Special newsletter will be published in Q1, 2014 • Positive Feedback was received from the several delegates • Due to visa issues, 10 delegates couldn’t make it to the congress • Section still has not closed the finances. R10 is waiting for their response
Registration Highlights • 33 Sections out of 52 sections from Region 10 were represented • Turkey Section from Region 8 was also represented • Sections with more than 3 volunteers

Learnings / Future Recommendations • A congress must be awarded at least one year in advance. 6 months are not enough for good quality congress • Section must sign a MoU with the Region 10 for the congress to properly handover • Reports, Feedbacks for the congress • Budget, Finances, expenses for the congress • There should be good balance for sponsorship between Industry + IEEE • A detailed guide should be provided to the congress organisers and strict timeline should be provided • Congress combined with Region 8 in 2017 (Join effort and special celebration for IEEE R10) • Congress every year (not bi-annual)

IEEE Region 10 SAC/WIE/GOLD Income (Not Audited) • Original budget presented was USD $ 52,000 • Surplus of USD $872 • $3,000 Sponsorship generated from industry which was expected to be USD $15,000 ($12,000 less than target)
Call for 2015 IEEE Region 10 Student/YP/WIE Congress 2015 • A congress must be joint (Student, YP, WIE) • The congress will be organised in June / July 2015 • Participation is expected to be around 200 • The congress must be organised by IEEE Section in conjunction with Student branch / affinity groups and Section will sign a MoU with IEEE Region 10 • Section must financially support the event • IEEE Region 10 will provide USD $10,000 as seed money. • Congress will be 4-day event (3 nights) • Section must generate industry sponsorship and shouldn’t completely rely on support from IEEE • Registration fees should not be more than USD $150
