3. Region 1 Section Partnership Program • The Section Partnership Program provides financial support for Section and Chapter activities that bring value to IEEE members • Section Partnership Program project requests should be “technical” or “operational” such as: • developing a newsletter, • developing a web site, • officer training, • joint Section/student branch programs, • distinguished lecturer presentations 2009 IEEE Region 1 Winter Meeting Section Partnership Program Report

4. Region 1 Section Partnership Program • The maximum Section Partnership funding a Section and its chapters can receive within a calendar year is $1500. Depending on experience, this may be revised. • Section funding must at least match requested Partnership Program funding • Region 1 Director may wave this requirement. • To simplify the evaluation/funding process, project funding requests should be signed and submitted electronically 2009 IEEE Region 1 Winter Meeting Section Partnership Program Report

5. Region 1 Section Partnership Program There will be up to three* periods for project submittals • October 1 – January 1 • Decisions announced at the Region 1 Winter Meeting • February 15 – May 15 • Decisions announced at the Spring Region1 ExCom meeting • June 1 – August 1 • Decisions announced at the Region 1 Summer Meeting * Dependent on how long the funds hold out 2009 IEEE Region 1 Winter Meeting Section Partnership Program Report

6. Region 1 Section Partnership Program Section Partnership Program Funding Request Submittal and Approval Paperless Process • The Section Project Manager completes the SECTION PARTNERSHIP PROJECT PLAN AND FINANCING REQUEST form (available on the Region 1 website and forwards it to his/her Section Chair for approval. • The Section Chair approves the project, the Section Chair forwards it to the Region 1 Section Partnership Program Coordinator. • At the end of each period the Region 1 Section Partnership Program Coordinator collects, reviews, and prioritizes the received project funding requests and forwards the approved funding requests to the Region 1 Director for his/her approval. • The Region 1 Director forwards all approved funding requests to the Region 1 Treasurer for disbursement of funds to the appropriate Section Treasurers 2009 IEEE Region 1 Winter Meeting Section Partnership Program Report

Section Support via Regions (SSVR ) • Every year MGA allocates funds to each Region Director to assist them support their sections • The amount is based on the number of Sections in the Region • Available to and used at the discretion of the Region Director • Funds are very limited • Sections submit funding requests directly to the Region 1 Director • There are no set criteria for evaluating/approving funding requests 2009 IEEE Region 1 Winter Meeting Section Partnership Program Report
