Recreation Needs Summary • San Clemente’s population is aging, so new recreation facilities will be needed to serve all ages • All sports groups & gym users (about 12% of pop.) need more facilities to continue their programs • San Clemente recreation facilities are at 100% reserved usage during prime time hours, and well-used during other hours

Charette Results • 42 community members participated in land use game • Each team produced a concept for the park and development

Discussion Summary • Most approved the basic concept • Ideas for adding facilities: skate park, more diving, t-ball • Several concerned about noise, traffic, & lighting impacts • Some concerned re: funds for park maintenance

Staff Recommendations: • Approve the proposed park layout • Direct staff to process the necessary entitlements and environmental analysis • Direct staff to prepare a funding plan for construction and maintenance • Authorize staff to prepare a Request for Proposal for construction drawings, select a firm and return to the Council for contract approval • Authorize staff to prepare a plan for the disposition of the non-park site
