  3. Say No to Soda, Yes to Healthy Drinks

  4. Say No to Soda, Yes to Healthy Drinks Why Say No to Soda? • Soda has no nutritional value • Soda contributes to obesity and diabetes. • Soda damages your teeth. • Soda weakens your bones. • Soda can harm your major organs.

  5. 1. Soda has No Nutritional Value • Soda is filled with sugar. • Diet sodas, while not filled with sugar, provide no nutrients to help your body.

  6. 2. Soda Contributes to Obesity and Diabetes • Soda is loaded with high-fructose corn syrup, a sweetener linked to obesity. • Soda consumption is also linked to the development of type two diabetes. • Diet soda sweeteners may lead to increased appetite, greater difficulty losing weight, and difficulty in maintaining weight loss.

  7. 3. Soda Damages Teeth • Besides the sugar, both types of soda contain carbolic acid that works to weaken tooth enamel, causing cavities and tooth decay.

  8. 4. Soda Weakens Your Bones • Most soda contains phosphorous, and some contain caffeine, both believed to contribute to osteoporosis. • Also, the consumption of soda often replaces milk or other healthy drinks, depriving the bones of calcium.

  9. 5. Soda Can Harm Your Major Organs • Research shows that increased soft drink consumption may be linked to kidney disease, liver disease, and symptoms that lead to increased heart risk.

  10. Healthy Alternatives • Water • The ultimate healthy drink • Fruit juice • Whole fruit is better than juice, but juice is better than soda, as it includes vitamin C. • Milk • Loaded with nutrients that your body needs. • Tea • Contain high levels of antioxidants that protect the body.
