Monash council About the Council The City of Monash is 81.5 square kilometres, located 20km southeast of the CBD and contains the suburbs of Wheelers Hill, Mulgrave, Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley, Ashwood, Huntingdale, Notting Hill, Clayton, Oakleigh, Hughesdale, Oakleigh East and parts of Chadstone, Burwood and Oakleigh South. The municipality is predominantly a residential area, with substantial industrial, commercial and recreational areas. The City is served by the Monash Freeway, EastLink, Dandenong Road, North Road, Wellington Road and the Dandenong and Glen Waverley railway lines. History 1995 - 2012 Chief Executive Officer - Mr David Conran 1995 - 1997 Chairman of Commissioners - Mrs Rayleen A Haig Commissioners - Mr John P Hall and Ms Margaret Abernethy 14 December 1994 The City of Monash was created as part of the State Government's restructure of Local Government in Victoria. Three Commissioners were appointed: Chairman of Commissioners - Mr Colin J Bock Commissioners - Mrs Rayleen A Haig and Mr John P Hall The City of Monash was once hunting grounds for the Bunurong people.
