Attend the Leading Diver Brief • Run by Regional Diving Officer, normally early in the season. • An introduction to the entire examination. • Opportunity to ask questions and make the decision to proceed. • Required for all potential leading divers. • Opportunity to meet other potential candidates. TRA/4
Fitness and Stamina Training • Should possess a high level of physical fitness; • To be successful in the pre-requisites • Able to cope with the stress of the examination. • Acquired through distance snorkelling and free swimming. • Minimum of 10 open water 1000m snorkels (30 Minutes). • Practice breath holding and snorkel diving. • Practice full equipment entries and navigation. Dive Organizational TrainingDefinition: “a diver who is capable of taking charge of a group of divers, experienced and inexperienced, plus all the equipment necessary to allow diving to take place successfully. A leading diver will also be involved in leading Trainee Divers”. TRA/7
Dive Organizational Training • Gained by practice and advice from experienced divers. • Undertake the organizational responsibility 10 times. • Use of competent instructors to give feedback. • 3 sessions should be carried out outside club activities. • Use simulated emergency during each DOD practice session. TRA/8
