Originally a Medieval princelywalledtownfromtheendofthe 19th century, founded by Prince Bořivoj ofthePřemyslovfamily. In thecourseofthe 11th century a Romanesquebasilicaarose. The most extensivemodificationswereconductedduringthereignof Charles IV whenthecastlebecameanimperial residence. Duringthereignof Rudolf II attheturnofthe 16th and 17th centuriesitbecame a centre forartsandsciences. Since 1918 thePragueCastle has beenthe residence ofthePresidents. PICS

  5. KROMĚŘÍŽ ABOUT KROMĚŘÍŽ Archbishop`s Palace - Formely a Gothiccastle, rebuilt in a Renaissancecastleand in the 17th century to theBaroquepalace. Fromthe 14th centurytill 1949 itwas a seatofBishopsandArchbishopsof Olomouc. There are extraordinaryinteriors in thecastle.Anotherjewelof Kroměříž are thelargestylishgardens - Podzámecká and Květná. In 1998 these sightsof Kroměříž were put down on the list oftheWorldCulturalHeritage. Itis a well-preserved sample ofEuropeanBaroque noble residencesandparks. PICS

  8. LITOMYŠL ABOUT LITOMYŠL A beautifulRenaissancechateaubuilt by Vratislav of Pernštejn in theyears 1568-1577. Thefacadeisdecorated by graffittoandthecourtyardissurrounded by arcades. A chateautheatrewithanassemblyofstagedecorations. In thechateaubrewerywasbornthe musical composer Bedřich Smetana andnowhereis a museum ofCzech music. In the city havepreserved a significantreligiousmemorialand a groupofRenaissanceandBaroquehouseswitharcades. PICS
