New framework and regulations from Sept 2007 • All new teachers • Threshold licence to teach e.g. Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector PTLLS • Roles – Full or Associate teaching role and qualifications – Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector DTLLS or Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector CTLLS • QTLS and ATLS
Literacy Numeracy or ESOL specialist teachers • Two requirements – generic and subject specialist • Full teaching role • Entry requirements L3 personal skills in English or Maths • Requirement for teaching practice at two levels • Various routes to qualification
Integrated diploma Full teachingqualification e.g. PGCE, Certificate in Education, Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector with Subject specific qualification in literacy, numeracy or ESOL Fully qualified Integrated programme 2 years part-time Diploma in Teaching English (Literacy or ESOL) or Mathematics (Numeracy) in the Lifelong Learning Sector
Partially integrated route PTLLS Subject specific qualification in Literacy, numeracy or ESOL Year 1 Generic Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector DTLLS Year 2 Diploma in teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (English Literacy or ESOL) or (Mathematics Numeracy)
Concurrent route Generic teaching qualification e.g. Diploma in Teachingin the Lifelong Learning Sector DTLLS Subject specific qualification e.g. Additional Diploma in Teaching English (Literacy or ESOL) or Mathematics (Numeracy) in the LLS Availability of courses QIA Skills for Life Improvement Programme survey of ITT +

Learning support • New framework for learning support • Existing L3 qualifications extended to March 09 • Current L2 awareness unit will be an optional unit in the new qualifications and remain as a separate award • New qualifications may be available for January 09 • LLUK investigating a specialist LLN learnersupport role
