Objectives • To understand CCE in the UK schools - philosophy, framework and programmes • To gain insights on how CCE is addressed in schools viz whole school approaches • To ascertain the role of school staff, the local community and industry in supporting CCE • To establish critical factors that would determine the success of CCE as well as challenges in development and implementation

  5. Key Learning: i. The importance of Citizenship Education (CE) - British society undergoing rapid change - Need to define British values/ ‘Britishness’ - Youths politically apathetic; suffer from lack of values ii. National Curriculum (England) vs Curriculum for Excellence (Scotland) iii. Purpose of the revised CE curriculum “...to enable young people to explore deep issues in CE”
