  1. INTRODUCING MetEaseTM MetEase A APPLICATION OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY FOR IMPROVED METEOROLOGICAL DATA PRCESSING , ARCHIVING AND DISSEMINATION Presented By Olatokunbo Okulaja NIGERIAN METEOROLOGICAL AGENCY ABUJA NIGERIA MOBILE +234 708 594 7180 E-mail : olatokunbo.okulaja@gmail.com

  2. INTRODUCTION • The purpose of this paper is to introduce MetEase software. MetEase is application of ICT to automate some of the “Met Technicians” standard Meteorological Observation routines. • MetEase incorporates many time-tested procedures and techniques used at official weather stations.

  3. Provides features that automate the computation of the Relative Humidity, Dew Point and Vapour Pressure using readings from Dry & Wet Bulb Thermometers and also derive Mean Sea Level Pressures, Station Level Pressures from the Kew Pattern Barometer “As Read” Readings, using the standard equations .

  4. FEATURES E-Daily Register (Form MET102).

  5. Automated Meteorological Message coding( Synoptic messages) & Dissemination (The Messaging systems can be integrated into theWIS/WIGOSand requires WMO Technical approval/support).

  6. Auto preparation and generation of Aviation Met Reports at Airport Stations.

  7. Automatic Storage of Meteorological Observation (Returns) and Climatological Records.

  8. Archival and Retrieval of Meteorological and Climatological Data using standard Relational Database (include export of records to Spreadsheets and other standard file format for other usage this may be considered in the CLICOM Programme ).

  9. VIEWS & USER INTERFACES

  10. e-DAILY REGISTER

  11. CODES & MESSAGE PLATFORM

  12. WEATHERSUMMARY

  13. AS U LIKE IT CLIMATIC DATA RETRIEVALFROM DATABASE

  14. TIMELY MESSAGING & WARNINGS

  15. AUTO MET-REPORT(QAM) FOR AIRPORTS & AERODROMES GENERATION

  16. AUTO AERODROME REPORT FOR CONTROL TOWERS

  17. USEFULLNESS(not limited to items below) • User friendly & Interactive. • Auto Computation of derived weather elements. • Auto coding of synoptic messages and transmission. • Save message preparation Time and deliver SYNOPTIC MESSAGES promptly .

  18. Auto Preparation of Met. Station Returns. • Provision of real time Aeronautical Met Report ( QAM )to the Control Towers and Airliners. • Timely provision of Climatological information in any format.

  19. Winds Records in Knots , m/s and km/h • The Climatological data can be accessed using any standard database enabled application. • Its scalable. • Compatibility with most existing ICT platforms. • Its is cost effective
