Eighteen more centres to start functioning soon • Community Based Influenza Surveillance in Dhaka started in 2004 • Avian Influenza Surveillance among High Risk Groups • Among personnel in direct contact during culling started in Jan’ 2008 • Wet Market live bird handler (started on 23rd Feb’09) • Salmonella Surveillance started in 2009
Outbreak investigation and Response • A total of 30 Outbreak investigations have been conducted in 2008 • 3 Nipah outbreaks • 3 outbreaks of Puffer fish poisoning • 5 outbreaks of Mass Psychogenic Illness • 4 outbreaks of Viral Encephalitis of unknown origin • First Human case of Avian Influenza was reported and investigated by IEDCR • Three different isolated clusters of Influenza Like Illness and • Food Poisoning • Chikungunya Fever in Poba, Rajshahi • Jaundice Outbreak in Tongi
