The Vibrant Club – RI Vision The membership perspective Composition of membership Style and image Quality of club programmes
How to Change the Image? New members paint a very clear vision of the typical Rotarian: • Male • Middle-class • Retired • Professional • 70+ • Been a member for 20+ years • Well established within the local area “It’s a bit of a post-retirement club”
Take a Closer look at your club • Cannot afford it anymore! • Bored with the club and their programme • Meeting times no longer suit • Rotary was not for them • Aging profile
Mentoring Members • Agree a set of activities, e.g. • Meet and talk to all the members – before and during and after the meal, and at social events • Visit neighbouring clubs • Attend Club Council/Board • Attend District Council Etc, etc, etc ……… • After each – review and reflect • Ask ‘open’ questions and listen
Be Inspired The people are inspirational and the work is inspirational BUT at times the meetings themselves lack that sense of ‘inspiration’, passion and excitement
SATELLITE CLUB • Can Meet at multiple times of the week in multiple locations • One meeting a month should be ‘regular’ business meeting • Members are Rotarians of ‘senior’ club • Max 3 satellites per club, each must meet weekly • May be formed from a merger of a struggling club
Associate Members • Club allowed to determine requirements • Allows variation relating to attendance and qualifications requirements • Eventually leading to full membership of club
Corporate Members • Business membership option • Up to 4 representatives may attend club meetings • Terms determined by the club • Serve of projects • Participate in other ways
Net 1 new member, set your goals higher • Regular Club Assessment (MOT) • Increase Diversity • Women • Younger Age Group • Reflect your community • Be Flexible and Innovative in attracting new members (RI Pilots) • Set up mentoring scheme to increase retention • Identify the sales people in your club
