  7. Aim To move e-learning from being seen as a Government priority, towards widespread acceptance of the benefits technology can provide to support, enhance and deliver learning.

  10. One Wales ‘We will work to widen participation for all ages in further and higher education, promoting Adult and Community learning both in relation to employability and the wider benefits which education brings’

  11. Webb Funding for adult and community learning should be focussed on the most disadvantaged For ILT Webb recommends that the Department should:

  12. commission and all Wales audit of ICT • based learning technology resources; • build on the proposed ICT strategy for schools and the post-16 e-learning strategy developed by ELWa in order to • advocate and encourage the development of ICT-enabled learning in schools and FEIs; • build on existing practice in institutions, • consider the roll-out of an all-Wales compatible virtual learning environment; and,

  13. fund the development of a centre of excellence for ICT-enabled learning to: a) develop Wales-wide principles of ICT-enabled learning b) search and source world class materials c) commission materials while ensuring that Wales does not develop materials of its own where better ones exist d) develop teachers in all institutions and specifically influence the content of Initial Teacher Training with regards to ICT-enabled learning, and e) Give particular consideration to the potential for further developing e-learning in such subject areas as mathematics and the Welsh language

Skills that work for Wales ‘We wish to see greater community ownership of priorities for ACL reflected in the way that we plan and commission this type of learning ….. we will publish a consultation paper on the reform of ACL in 2008’ How can this be delivered without the effective use of technology?

  16. E-Learning Update or Statement WAG wants to move away from having a plethora of strategies ‘themed papers should be positioned as proposals policies,, initiatives or whatever is appropriate. Need to show explicitly how technology can support recent key strategy documents

  17. Key issues What has been achieved? What is in place? Why? We need an evidence base Are existing interventions working? What do we hope to achieve? Are we missing something?
