  2. Exposition • It starts out in the ocean with Ariel as the main character, Trident as her father, Sebastian as Ariel’s guardian, Flounder as her best friend, and Scuttle as her friend/story teller. Ursula is the evil fat lady who tries to rule the ocean.

  3. Complication • Ariel is fascinated by humans and wants to be apart of their world, so Ursula takes her voice in exchange for legs. Ariel has to get a kiss from the prince in three days or she’ll turn back into a mermaid and belongs to Ursula. Ariel has to get a kiss from the prince without talking to him because Ursula owns her voice.

  4. Rising Action • Ursula takes the form of another beautiful woman and sings with Ariel’s voice to distract the prince into marrying her instead of Ariel.

  5. Climax • Ariel is turned back into a mermaid and Ursula tries to kill her. Ursula turns the entire ocean kingdom into lost souls.

  6. Falling Action • Ariel, with the help of her friends, kills Ursula and turns all the lost souls back to normal.

  7. Denouement • Trident, Ariel’s father, turns her into a human so she can marry the prince. They get married, Ariel kisses her father goodbye, and they live happily ever after.
