Definition of Basic Spectral Description • The time series of logarithmic frequency description of the short-term power spectrum. • Modeling of Human ear
Audio Spectrum Envelope (1) • ASE is a log-frequency power spectrum. • Reduced spectrogram of the origin. • Obtained by summing the energy of the original power spectrum within series of frequency bands.
Audio Spectrum Envelope (2) • The bands are log2 distributed between loEdge and hiEdge. • R= 2^j octaves (-4<=j<=3) • Edge = 2^(r*n) * 1kHz
Audio Spectrum Envelope (3) • Default hiEdge = 16kHz • Default loEdge = 62.5Hz (8-octave) • Bin = 8/r • loFb = loEdge * 2^((b-1)*r) • hiFb = loEdge * 2^(b*r)
Audio Spectrum Envelope (4) • ASE(b) = sigma P(k) : from loKb ~ hiKb • P(k) = abs(S(k))^2
Audio Spectrum Envelope (5) • Power spectrum coefficient whose distance to a band edge is less than half the FFT resolution • To contribute to the ASE coefficients of both neighboring bands.
Audio Spectrum Envelope (6) • Out band energy • Powers of the spectrum between 0Hz and loEdge and between hiEdge and Fs/2 • B=Bin + 2
