Syphilis By David and Julio
What is my disease? • Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the spirochete bacteria Treponemapallidum subspecies pallidum. The primary route of transmission is through sexual contact however it may also be transmitted from mother to fetus during pregnancy or at birth resulting in congenital syphilis. Other human diseases caused by related Treponemapallidum include yaws (subspecies pertenue), pinta (subspecies carateum) and bejel (subspecies endemicum).
How do l contract? • Syphilis is caused by a bacteria; specifically, a motile (able to move) spirochete (corkscrew shaped bacteria) known as Treponemapallidum. The spirochete is passed from person to person sexually; during oral, anal and vaginal sex. Syphilis causes open sores primarily on the penis, anus, and vagina. Contact with those sores during oral, vaginal, or anal sex allows for the transfer of the spirochete sexually from one person to another.
How do l cure? • Syphilis is normally treated with penicillin, but if you have a penicillin alergy, another antibiotic substance would likely be used.Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_cure_syphilis#ixzz1YQVe3Axy
