  1. Solar Options The “Greening” of Local Communities

  2. The Buzz Global Warming Renewable Energy Go Green

  3. Conservation

  4. Energy Efficiency Efficient energy use, sometimes simply called energy efficiency, is using less energy to provide the same level of energy service. System Energy In Energy out Process Loss

  5. Energy Efficiency Think of Energy efficiency as the glue that holds the energy together System Efficiency Energy In Energy out Process Efficiency Loss

  6. Energy EfficiencyExamples CFL lighting Energy Star Products Insulation Skylights and light tubes

  7. Passive Solar

  8. Solar Options The “Greening” of Local Communities

  9. Solar Initiatives

  10. Solar Pool Heating Solar pool heaters work in partnership with your pool's filter pump to efficiently heat thousands of gallons of water in the pool.

  11. Pool Heating Savings With Solar Based on a 900 square foot pool and an approximate installation cost of $14,000

  12. Payback / Return

  13. Solar Water Heating Integrated Collector System A simple system that requires no pumps or controls for operation. It combines a water storage tank and the solar collector in one unit.

  14. Solar Water Heating Thermosiphon System These collect heat from the sun and transfer it to your water through a natural process, relying on the simple principle that hot water rises and cold water sinks.

  15. Solar Water Heating Active Direct System Open loop active systems heat the water supply directly.

  16. Solar Water Heating Active Closed System These use a separate fluid that transfers heat to the water through a heat exchanger.

  17. Tax Incentives 30% Federal Tax Credit or Optional Tax Grant for Business plus Depreciation Allowance plus Solar Systems are EXEMPT From Property Tax Assessment!

  18. Photovoltaics A solar electric system consists of an array of solar electric panels, an inverter and a computerized solid-state controller. The solar electric panels generate DC electricity directly from sunlight. The inverter coverts the DC electricity produced by the panels to AC electricity. The computerized controller regulates the system and directs your extra power back to the utility grid.

  19. Photovoltaics Photovoltaic (PV) cells are made of special materials called semiconductors such as silicon, which is currently the most commonly used. When light strikes the cell, a certain portion of it is absorbed within the semiconductor material. This means that the energy of the absorbed light is transferred to the semiconductor.

  20. Photovoltaics When the sun hits the cell, it excites electrons in the B area and they migrate to the A area. The electron flow provides the current, and the cell's electric field causes a voltage. With both current and voltage, we have power, which is the product of the two.

  21. Cash Rebates! PG&E rebate level currently at: $1.55 per watt Residential 1.20 per watt Commercial HOAs and other non-profits get a larger rebate: $2.30 per watt • Hedge against ever escalating energy costs

  22. Tax Incentives 30% Federal Tax Credit or Optional Tax Grant for Business plus Depreciation Allowance plus Solar Systems are EXEMPT From Property Tax Assessment!

  23. The Green of going Green

  24. The Benefits • Go Green – Become a Leader • Develop a Sustainable Energy Program • Reduce Costs, Increase Efficiency Recommendations • Feasibility Study of Financing Options • Develop Solar Plans For Communities

  25. About Suntrek • Established 1991 • Over 20,000 solar installations • The “Power of Three” • Creative, experienced and focused
