  1. University YMCA of Hong Kong Movement (Uni Y) ‘A Global Leader with Care, Concern and Love’

  2. Vision To develop and strengthen YMCA movement among university students in HK; To contribute to character building and nurturing of leadership with Christian attributes for our community (YMCA, Hong Kong, and the global community

  3. Background • YMCA HK has been working intensively on Youth Leadership Development (YLD) with secondary schools for 8 years, we have built up a strong network and fellowship among these young people. Some of them are now pursuing their tertiary education and some have already graduated from universities. They have expressed a desire and a few have taken the initiative Uni Y movement • Two service trips (with pre & post meetings and activities), to Guangxi and Changsha respectively were held in last summer, with positive enrollment and feedback from participants. We assessed that both student network and university network are there for us to develop the movement.

  4. Programmes in 2009 Re-development @ Sichuan 1/December 26-30th 2/April 10-13th 3/Late July Eco-tourism @ Lugu Lake, Yunnan Late May Social Enterprise @ ChangSha Late June Other exchange tour s within YMCA world alliance Summer time

  5. A group of about 10 core members will be agglomerated ….to form a student run society under the umbrella of Student Union of HKU

  6. Outcome and Impact…with facilitation of YMCA officers • Monthly core group training, meetings and fellowship • 1-2 programmes each year (social service programme, overseas service trips, etc) • At least one inter-university programme each year (training, project competition, seminar, social service, etc) • International cooperation and exchange with other YMCA Uni Y movements • Internship • Further leadership development in YMCA committees or working groups
