  6. 二 Triad Reading and QuickthinksIntroduction Today we will start a new reading technique And a new note-taking technique. Our new note-taking technique is called QUICKTHINKS (it’s not a real word).

  7. 二 Triad Reading and QuickthinksIntroduction Quickthinks are a way of writing your first reactions or impressions of something you have done or have read. Quickthink are a great way to experience music, sports, and television. Quickthinks are basically the same as this stuff.

  8. I will assign you into groups of three. Move into those groups right away. Your group leader is whoever is oldest today. You will be reading a worksheet one paragraph at a time. A quickthink is like a main idea. When someone finishes reading a paragraph, each listener must say a quickthink out loud to the group. The reader also says a quickthink. Everyone chooses a quickthink and writes it down next to the paragraph. When everyone has said one quickthink and written one quickthink, the next person reads the next paragraph. 二 Triad Reading and Quickthinks Introduction

  9. Remember, group assignments are final. You don’t have to like anyone in your group; you just have to work with them. Send someone from the group to pick up your reading pages. Put your first and last name at the top on both sides and your group members’ names on the bottom of the page on the reading side. 三 Group Assignments

  10. The group leader reads the first paragraph on the first page and the group follows along. After the reader finishes a paragraph, listeners do a quickthink. Each listener must say her or his quickthink out loud. Next, the reader must do a quickthink. Finally, each member of the group chooses a quickthink to write down next to the paragraph (in the margin). The person to the leader’s left reads the next paragraph and the quickthink process starts over. Continue until you finish triad reading the page (with quickthinks). Done reading?
