Unit9 Industry application of robot 37 Part4 Assembly robot “Assembly Robot” is an industry term for a robot that used in lines of parts or components for assembly of industrial automation and is the core of the flexible assembly system automation equipment. It’s used for lean industrial processes and have expanded production capabilities in the manufacturing world. An assembly line robot can increase production speed and consistency. The tools at the end of arm can be customized for each assembly robot to cater to the manufacturing requirements and used for all applications. Assembly operations with industrial robots can make the process faster, improve efficiency and accuracy.

Additional, robotic vision is also available to improve efficiency and accuracy. Robots can perform tedious and dull assembly tasks leaving factory personnel to do other jobs, whilst at the same time quality is improved. • Round the clock production is a cost effective option Robots will work 24 hours a day all year round without the need for a break. They will eliminate downtime, reduce labour costs and provide a high return on investment.

Unit9 Industry application of robot 37 Part4 Assembly robot Classifications of Assembly Robot Currently, there are four types of assembly robots in industrial applications that are common: cartesian coordinate robots, six-axis articulated robots, SCARA robots and Delta parallel robots. Among, the cartesian coordinate robot is mainly used in the assembly of energy-saving lamps, the assembly of electronic products and the assembly of LCD panel.

Additional, the SCARA robot is widely used in the assembly of products such as electronics, machinery and light industry and the Delta parallel robot is mainly used in the field of IT and electronic assembly.
