2. Welcome toCity College You are at step three of the matriculation process. Matriculation at CCSF is a process which assists students in developing and realizing their educational goals. Students are more likely to succeed in college when they have an accurate assessment of their skills, an idea of their educational goals, and an understanding of the course selection and registration process. Full or Part-Time? • Do you plan to be a full-time or part-time student? • Full-time students take 12 or more units a semester. • Part-time students take under 12 units a semester. • During the Fall and Spring semesters the maximum number of units a student may enroll in is 17, in the summer the maximum number of units is 7. If a student wishes to enroll in more than the maximum units allowed the student must get an approval* from a counselor. • Approval to take more than 17 semester units will not be given unless students need such units to be candidates for graduation or have completed their last full semester of work at the College with an average grade of B (3.00 grade-point average) or higher. • Note: Enrollment maximums are strictly enforced by our computer systems. Therefore, students who are approved to take more than 17 units must process those units in person at the Registration Center, Smith Hall, Room 118. • How many units is considered full time? 16 8 12
