A Change to Our Community Abandoned homes in West Bibb County, Georgia By: Cole Crook
A home left empty… This house was found on Hopewell Road in Lizella GA. It is in very bad shape. I believe it is a dangerous place to be and if someone goes inside, he or she might get hurt.
History falling apart… This is one of the older houses in Lizella. I have been told that the grandparents of my fathers uncle, Wayne McCallum, lived in this house.
These homes can possibly be used as hideouts for robbers and bad people. This can cause the people in our community to become scared and worried.
Money lost… These homes are old and the yards are not taken care of. This can cause the property value to go down for the people in the neighborhoods.
Tear down the old and start fresh with fruit… All these reason are very important and I believe the abandoned homes need to be torn down. Let us take some of these places and make them a better place!
My recommendation… I will organize churches in our community to come together and help plant fruit trees, take care of them and pick the fruit when they are ready to be picked. All the fruit from the trees can be collected and sold at the churches. I want the money earned to be donated to the needy. This helps everyone. Our community will look better and people will come together and work for a good cause.
