  7. SOCIAL MEDIA DEBATE IS OVER • If you are debating the use of social media today, you would have also debated: • Using a telephone in the 1920s • Using a fax machine in the 1980s • Using email and web sites in the 1990s

  8. ALL THE KIDS ARE DOING IT • 2 billion people can’t be wrong • Changes in “traditional” media • Ability to be your own newsroom • Anytime and anywhere • Phone = most people’s computer • Drive online traffic

  20. PHOTO TIPS • PROXIMITY: Capture the “action” • FOCUS: A photograph not in focus is a photograph that cannot be used • INTEREST: people against a wall = boring; people doing something = interesting

  21. PHOTO TIPS • OK to photograph? Check Infinite Campus. • Photo of a group activity typically OK • Careful when and how to ID students • Public Events (concerts, sporting events, etc.): no expectation of privacy
