  14. What is a C-Map & How do I do It? A C-Map is a template for your lesson plans to address: • Learning outcomes • Learning objectives • Arts activity • Accommodations • Assessment • Comments

  15. Curriculum Mapping Big Idea: What do you want the students to learn? • Keep in broad • Underlying concept Goal: At each session what will you teach that will meet the goal?

Curriculum Mapping • Learning objectives – state standards • Learning outcomes- what do you want the student to learn? • Arts activity- does the art activity relate to the class curriculum? • Accommodations/ Modifications- what changes did you need to make to enable the student to participate • Assessment- how do you know the students acquired the goals/ skills of the lesson?

  17. C-Maps Address: • What you want the student to learn • How your art activity relates to the class curriculum • What changes need to be made to enable all students to participate • How the administration can see that the students acquired the goals and skills of the lesson

  19. Why C-Mapsare Important • To meet the NGSSS requirements • Ensures that your residency is in line with the teacher’s curriculum needs, lesson by lesson • Provides you with an easy tool for learning assessment

  20. Developing Your C-Map • Develop your plan before you meet with the classroom teacher • Clarify and define your mutual goals • Understand the needs of your students • Draft your C-Map and meet with the teacher again to refine it, and revise as you go along, if needed.

  21. C-Maps Should … • Clearly express and identify the content • Integrate supports for learning (use of adaptive equipment, buddy system) • Use a variety of instructional methods • Use multiple methods of demonstrating understanding (UDL) • Use assistive technology to increase accessibility

NGSS Arts Framework • Big Idea- (the 10,000’ view) • Provides a broad view of arts education concept • Enduring Understandings –(the 5,000’ view) • Provides additional focus within the Big Idea that will facilitate teachers work in design essential questions for lesson plans • Benchmarks- (the ground view) • Guides instructions and assessment. These are measureable.
