  1. Joining God in his mission – Acts1:8 God’s mission is to:- 1. Bring many people to glory – Heb.2:9-11 2. Unite all things under Jesus – Eph.1:9-11 God invites humans to join him in his great mission.

  2. 1. Who God invites a. Apostles – Acts 1:8 b. Unnamed Christians-Acts 8:1,4; 11:19-21 To become a Christian is to become a co-worker with God – 1Cor.3:9; 2Cor.6:1; 1Thess.3:2 To be a passive spectator is disobedience

  3. 2. Where/When do we engage in mission? Acts 1:8 – summary of Acts a. Jerusalem – ch. 1-7 b. Judea & Samaria – ch.8 – 11:18 c. To the ends of the earth – 11:19 – ch.28 Where we are is an opportunity for mission Every day is an opportunity for mission

  4. 3. What is our mission? Acts 1:8 – “You will be my witnesses” a. Speaking of Jesus – God’s salvation. The Exodus is the O.T. model b. Acting like Jesus – God’s restoration.Lk.4:18,19The Jubilee is the O.T. model – Lev.25 - The family – social structures - The land – economic issues - Motivation – God’s people in God’s land - Practical needs met now - Future hope – the NEW CREATION

  5. 4. How can we succeed in our mission? Acts 1:8 is a promise. The Spirit equips us to a. Speak of Jesus b. Act like Jesus The Spirit initiates, guides & empowers:- -Philip -8:29-35 “The Spirit & the Bible” -Antioch church-13:1-3 “The Spirit & Prayer” -Paul-16:6,7 “The Spirit & guidance” God promises the Spirit to all Christians – Joel 2:28,29

  6. 5. Saying “Yes” to God’s mission a. Say “Yes” to God – repentance & faith b. Give yourself to God’s mission:- 1. Spreading the Good News of Jesus 2. Committing myself to God’s work of Restoring & Developing potential c. It is through the Whole Church that God’s mission can be carried out. ACC can play it’s part through:- 1. Our ministries 2. Our members
