  9. How Does God Manifest Himself to Human Beings? A Glimpse into the Nature of Yehovah and the Deity of Messiah Yeshua

  10. Some Dangers Inherent in the Hebrew Roots Movement Putting all our teachings on trial We don’t have to reinvent the wheel Listening to the Rabbis (danger, danger Will Robinson!) Don ‘t believe everything you hear – even if it is a fine sounding argument

  11. How to approach the daunting task of exploring the nature of Elohim: With humility Fully understanding the nature of Elohim is beyond our ability (oneness, trinitarianism) Spiritual things are spiritually discerned

  12. 13 Who has understood the mind of Yehovah, or instructed him as his counselor? 14Whom did Yehovahconsult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge or showed him the path of understanding? 15Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales; he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust. (Isaiah 40)

  13. 1 Corinthians 2 – Discerning Spiritual Things 9However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what Elohim has prepared for those who love him"-- 10but Elohim has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of Elohim. 11For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of Elohim except the Spirit of Elohim. 12We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from Elohim, that we may understand what Elohim has freely given us.

  14. 13This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. 14The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of Elohim, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment: 16"For who has known the mind of Yehovahthat he may instruct him?" But we have the mind of Messiah.

  15. The Ridiculous Notion that Elohim Could Become a Man 19Elohim is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? (Numbers 23) 32 "He is not a man like me that I might answer him, that we might confront each other in court.(Job 9)

  16. Man Made in Elohim’s Image 26Then Elohim said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." 27So Elohim created man in his own image, in the image of Elohim he created him; male and female he created them.(Genesis 1)

  17. ~l,c, (tselem) image Used of idols, the representation of so-called gods tWmd> (demût) likeness, shape, outline of a figure or object

  18. The Word In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim. 2He was with Elohim in the beginning. 3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. (4th Gospel 1)

  19. Dabar is a very common word in Hebrew, usually rendered word.  The BDB Lexicon lists our word as rb'D': n.m. speech, word.  The Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament (TWOT) gives us these renderings: word, speaking, speech, thing, etc.  And the Hebrew and Aramaic Lexicon of the Old Testament (HALOT) adds matter as another typical translation.

  20. In the KJV dābar (the verb Strong’s 1696) is translated by about thirty different words and dābār (the noun Strong’s 1697) by more than eighty. Some of these are synonyms but many are not. All, however, have some sense of thought processes, of communication, or of subjects or means of communication. The noun dābār stretches all the way from anything that can be covered by the word thing or matter to the most sublime and dynamic notion of the word of God. (TWOT)

  21. The Word of Yehovah After these things, the word of Yehovahcame to Avram in a vision: "Do not be afraid, Avram. I am your shield, your very great reward." (Bereshith 15:1) Then the word of Yehovah came to him: "This man will not be your heir..." (Bereshith 15:4).

  22. DabarYehovah Gerleman notes that the singular construct chain dabar YHWH "the word of the LORD" occurs 242 times and almost always (225 times) the expression appears as a technical form for the prophetic revelation (TWOT). In other words, the word of Yehovahis a direct communication from Elohim. The Word of Yehovah is Yehovah Himself!

  23. But a careful examination of the usage of this phrase will bear out that the phrase is more than merely a "technical form for the prophetic revelation."  The d'varYehovahis personified in its usage and stands in the place of Yehovahhimself.  The d'varYehovah, as a name or title of Yehovahhimself, both appears and speaks.  The d'varYehovahis not merely a message from Yehovah, it is Yehovahhimself appearing and speaking.

  24. Elohim Appears to Abram When Avram was ninety-nine years old, Yehovahappeared to him and said, "I am El Shaddai; walk before me and be blameless. 2I will confirm my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers." 3Avram fell facedown, and Elohim said to him, 4"As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations. (Genesis 17)

  25. Yehovah Again Appears to Abraham Yehovahappeared to Avraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. Avraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. (Bereshith 18:1-2).

  26. He then brought some curds and milk and the calf that had been prepared, and set these before them. While they ate, he stood near them under a tree. "Where is your wife Sarah?" they asked him. "There, in the tent," he said. Then Yehovahsaid, "I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son." Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. (Bereshith 18:8-10).

  27. When the men got up to leave, they looked down toward Sodom, and Avraham walked along with them to see them on their way.  Then Yehovahsaid, "Shall I hide from Avraham what I am about to do? (vss 16-17).

  28. The Word Communicates With Samuel Now Samuel did not yet know Yehovah: The word of Yehovahhad not yet been revealed to him.  Yehovahcalled Samuel a third time, and Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." Then Eli realized that Yehovahwas calling the boy. (1 Samuel 3:7-8)

  29. That night the word of Yehovahcame to Nathan, saying: "Go and tell my servant David, 'This is what Yehovahsays...' " (2 Samuel 7:4-5). And the word of Yehovahcame to him: "What are you doing here, Eliyahu?" (1 Kings 19:9). The word of Yehovahcame to me, saying, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." (Yirmeyahu 1:4-5).

  30. No one has ever seen Elohim, but Elohim the One and Only (the only one of its kind of class unique), who is at the Father's side, has made him known. (4th Gospel 1:18) evxhge, omai(Greek word sometimes translated exegesis) tell, relate, explain, report; make known, reveal

  31. The Angel (Messenger) of Yehovah malackYehovah (in Hebrew, hA"ïhy> %a;’l.m;), usually translated angel of Yehovah or messenger of Yehovah. The Angel of Yehovah Appears to Hagar Read Genesis 16:6-14 Who was this Messenger of Yehovah? Ans: the El who sees

  32. The Messenger of Yehovah Appears to Ya’acov in a Dream 11 The angel of Elohim said to me in the dream, 'Ya'acov.' I answered, 'Here I am.' 12And he said, 'Look up and see that all the male goats mating with the flock are streaked, speckled or spotted, for I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you. 13I am the Elohim of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar and where you made a vow to me. Now leave this land at once and go back to your native land.'"

  33. Israel Knows the Malack is Yehovah Then he blessed Yoseph and said, "May the Elohim before whom my fathers Avraham and Yitzchak walked-- the Elohim who has been my shepherd all my life long to this day, the Angel who has protected me from all harm-- bless these boys (Bereshith 48:15-16).

  34. The Messenger of Yehovah Appears to Mosheh? There the angel of Yehovahappeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Mosheh saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. (Shemot 3:2).

  35. So Mosheh thought, "I will go over and see this strange sight-- why the bush does not burn up."  When Yehovahsaw that he had gone over to look, Elohim called to him from within the bush, "Mosheh! Mosheh!" And Mosheh said, "Here I am."  "Do not come any closer," Elohim said. "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground."  Then he said, "I am the Elohim of your father, the Elohim of Avraham, the Elohim of Yitzchak and the Elohim of Ya'acov." At this, Mosheh hid his face, because he was afraid to look at Elohim. (Shemot 3:3-6).

  36. The Angel of Yehovah Appears to Gideon The angel of Yehovahcame and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites.  When the angel of Yehovahappeared to Gideon, he said, "Yehovahis with you, mighty warrior."  "But sir," Gideon replied, "if Yehovahis with us, why has all this happened to us?

  37. The Angel of Yehovah Appears to Gideon Where are all his wonders that our fathers told us about when they said, 'Did not Yehovahbring us up out of Mitzrayim?' But now Yehovahhas abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian."  Yehovahturned to him and said, "Go in the strength you have and save Yisrael out of Midian's hand. Am I not sending you?"  "But Yehovah," Gideon asked, "how can I save Yisrael? (Shoftim [Judges] 6:11-15).

  38. Acts 7:37-8 – Stephen’s Speech 37"This is that Mosheh who told the sons of Yisrael, 'Elohim will send you a prophet like me from your own people.' 38He was in the assembly in the desert, with the angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers; and he received living words to pass on to us.

  39. How Did Yehovah Come to and Communicate with the Ancients? Often, Yehovah appeared to people as a man, and spoke with them in a human voice Sometimes Scripture calls him the Word of Yehovah, sometimes the messenger of Yehovah, both of whom appeared as a man. To say, then, that Yehovah would never come as a human is contrary to the revelation of Scripture

  40. The Future King is from the Distant Past But you (Bethlehem) Ephrathah, the least of the clans of Judah, from you will come for me a future ruler of Israel whose origins go back to the distant past, to the days of old. (Micah 5:1, New Jerusalem Bible)

  41. The Son Born from David is the Mighty Elohim For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty Elohim, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of Yehovahof armies will accomplish this (Yeshayahu 9:6-7).

  42. Psalm 110 Of David. A psalm. Yehovahsays to my master: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." 2Yehovahwill extend your mighty scepter from Zion; you will rule in the midst of your enemies. 3Your troops will be willing on your day of battle. Arrayed in holy majesty, from the womb of the dawn you will receive the dew of your youth.

  43. Psalm 110 4Yehovahhas sworn and will not change his mind: "You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." 5Yehovahis at your right hand; he will crush kings on the day of his wrath. 6He will judge the nations, heaping up the dead and crushing the rulers of the whole earth. 7He will drink from a brook beside the way; therefore he will lift up his head.

  44. The Torah and the Prophets describe many occasions when Yehovah appeared as a man and spoke with people. The Prophets also make clear that a son would be born from David’s line who would be the Mighty Elohim, whose origins are from the distant past. These revelations clearly indicate that Elohim would be born in human flesh to dwell with men and to rule and reign on earth.

  45. The criticisms about the use of the New Testament to “prove” the deity of Yeshua Messiah If Yeshua is the Son of Elohim, we should be able to prove it from the Tanach (only) Faulty logic? Been listening too trustingly to the Rabbis again? You believe them? Really?

  46. The Testimony of Yeshua About Himself 23But he continued, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am, you will indeed die in your sins." And so they were saying to Him, "Who are You?" Yeshuasaid to them, "What have I been saying to you from the beginning? (4th Gospel 8:25).

  47. Your father Avraham was overjoyed to see my day, and he saw it and was glad." Then the Yehudim replied, "You are not yet fifty years old! Have you seen Avraham?" Yeshuasaid to them, "I tell you the solemn truth, before Avraham was, I AM!" Then they picked up stones to throw at him, but Yeshuahid himself and went out from the temple area (The 4th Gospel 8:56-59).

  48. The Works of Yeshua "But I have a testimony greater than that from Yochanan. For the deeds that the Father has assigned me to complete--the deeds I am now doing--testify about me that the Father has sent me" (The 4th Gospel 5:36).

  49. The Works of Yeshua The Jewish leaders surrounded him and asked, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly." Yeshuareplied, "I told you and you do not believe. The deeds I do in my Father's name testify about me" (4th Gospel 10:24-25).
