Russia Leaves the War • Riots in March 1917 caused by: • Anti-government Lenin • Scarcity of food and fuel. • Czar Nicholas II had abdicated the throne. • Bolsheviks (Communists) came to power. • Vladimir Lenin was their leader. • Russian government overthrown and Communist government established.
German Offensive Falters • Massive attack on the Western Front. • American and French troops blocked the German drive on Paris at the town of Chateau-Thierry.
