3. Khi ấy, có người trong đám đông nóivớiĐứcGiêsu rằng: “ThưaThầy, xin Thầy bảo anh tôi chia phầngia tài cho tôi". A man in the crowd said to Jesus, ‘Master, tell my brother to give me a share of our inheritance.’

4. Người đáp: ‘My friend,’ he replied

5. “ Nàyanh, ai đã đặt tôilàm người xửkiện hayngười chia gia tài cho các anh ? ” ‘who appointed me your judge, or the arbitrator of your claims?’

6. VàNgười nóivới họ: Then he said to them,

7. ‘Watch, and be on your guard against avarice of any kind, for a man’s life is not made secure by what he owns, even when he has more than he needs.’ “ Anhemphảicoi chừng, phảigiữ mình khỏimọi thứ tham lam,khôngphải vì dưgiảmà mạngsống con người đượcbảo đảmnhờcủacải đâu ”.

8. Then he told them a parable: Sauđó Người nóivớihọdụngônnày:

9. “ Cómộtnhàphúhộkia, ruộng nươngsinh nhiềuhoalợi, mớinghĩbụngrằng: ‘There was once a rich man who, having had a good harvest from his land, thought to himself,

10. ‘ Mìnhphảilàmgìđây ? Vìcònchỗđâu màtíchtrữhoamầu ! What am I to do? I have not enough room to store my crops.”

11. Rồiôngta tựbảo: Mìnhsẽlàmthếnày: phánhữngcáikhokiađi, xâynhữngcáilớn hơn, rồitíchtrữtấtcảthóclúavàcủacảimìnhvàođó. Lúcấy ta sẽnhủlòng: Then he said, “This is what I will do; I will pull down my barns and build bigger ones, and store all my grain and my goods in them, and I will say to my soul:

12. My soul, you have plenty of good things laid by for many years to come; take things easy, eat, drink, have a good time.” hồnta hỡi , mìnhbâygiờ ê hềcủacải, dưxàinhiều năm. Thôi, cứnghỉngơi, cứăn uốngvuichơi chođã !

13. Nhưng Thiên Chúa bảo ông ta: But God said to him,

14. “Fool! This very night the demand will be made for your soul; and this hoard of yours, whose will it be then?” ‘Đồngốc! Nộiđêm nay, người ta sẽđòi lạimạngngươi, thìnhữnggìngươi sắmsẵnđósẽvềtayai? ’

15. Ấykẻnàothutíchcủacảichomình, màkhông lo làmgiàu trước mặtThiênChúa, thìsốphậncũngnhưthếđó. So it is when a man stores up treasure for himself in place of making himself rich in the sight of God.’
