Agenda • Recap from the last meeting / Follow-up actions - 20 Minutes • Discussion on IoT Architecture - 90 Minutes • Summary and Action items. - 10 Minutes GISFI # 08, Mar 26-28, 2012, Patna
IoT – Reference Architecture (Work In Progress) GISFI # 08, Mar 26-28, 2012, Patna
Use Case Scenarios of IoT Agenda • mHealth Several sensors will get the data corresponding to different health parameters for different parts of the body by using a proper access network to meet the QoS requirement. Multiple sensors may help a cooperative study for a single problem. • The remote monitoring of patient while the patient is static, for example, at patient’s home, • The remote monitoring of patient while patient is mobile, for example, travelling in an ambulance, • taking appropriate immediate action in case alarm is raised, • getting remote consultation from specialists as an expert / second opinion. • Smart Home Multiple sensors getting used and connected to Internet/Web via an access gateway to achieve a smart environment, able to interoperate among heterogeneous sensors , detect various contexts including home energy consumption, analyze the context and automate the action. IoT communications may play a major role in houses, where automation of some processes appear essential in many home-related sectors such as comfort, health, security, energy efficiency. Use Case Scenarios of IoT Use Case Scenarios of IoT • Smart Grid Preserving user privacy is one of its challenges . Privacy preservation of consumer information in smart grids: • Should feature privacy principles in their overall project governance framework and proactively embed privacy requirements into their designs, in order to prevent privacy-invasive events from occurring. • Must ensure that privacy is the default – the “no action required” mode of protecting one’s privacy – its presence is ensured. • Must make privacy a core functionality in the design and architecture of Smart Grid systems and practices – an essential design feature. • Must avoid any unnecessary trade-offs between privacy and legitimate objectives of Smart Grid projects. • Must build in privacy end-to-end, throughout the entire life-cycle of any personal information collected. • Must be visible and transparent to consumers – engaging accountable business practices – to ensure that new Smart grid systems operate according to stated objectives. • Must be designed with respect for consumer privacy, as a core foundational requirement. Use Case Scenarios of IoT • mAgriculture Several spatially distributed wireless sensors are used to monitor the water, soil conditions, the crops, fruits conditions, as well as the conditions of livestock in real-time. Major use cases for the sensor based agriculture monitoring are: • Crop Modelling, Planning • Water Conservation Measures • Pest and Disease Prediction/Prevention • Water Management for Deficit Irrigation • Insurance & Finance Provisioning • Food Supply Chain Managing food supply chain management system to determine the food quality, food price and constant availability of food in the market. This use case fulfill the following objectives: • To provide price support to producers. • To distribute food grains through the public distribution system (PDS) at reasonable and uniform prices especially to the weaker sections of the society. • To have better price controls on the food items sold in private markets. • To ensure food security through better management of food stocks for PDS and disasters like drought. • To facilitate better cultivation by addressing problems in cultivation, to ensure supply vs. demand is met. GISFI # 08, Mar 26-28, 2012, Patna
Use Case Scenarios of IoT • Food quality surveillance security system. • This use case will provide the alert notification to food quality supervisor if there any defect is found in food product surveillance security system and food quality surveillance security system. The alert notification will be sent to user over the LTE transport network. The food quality correction command is used to defect correction unit in case of defect in food. • Land Slide Detection system Several sensors are used to detect landslides and alerting the authority by means of electronic information using Internet as back bone Major use cases for the sensor based landslide detection are: • Landslide type • Rate of movement of the materials • Types of materials GISFI # 08, Mar 26-28, 2012, Patna
