Quality of Life Committee (2005-2006) • UEC: Diehl, Merritt, Finley, Alton, (Kopp) • GSA: Welty-Rieger, Degenhardt, Cuenca-Almenar, Aguilar-Arevolo, Maki • Main Focus was QoL for Female Visiting Users and Female Scientific/Eng. Staff • GSA was very important in our successes
Major and Minor Successes • Women’s housing in the village – 6? rooms in Aspen East • Update to “Guide to Life” – GSA • Make political contacts for connecting FNAL with hoped-for train transport in Western Suburbs (Fortner) a long-term issue. • Minor – Interface to the lab on some issues • Produced news to users on Email Center/ Help Desk progress • Complained about the water in Wilson Hall • Identified topics for Fermilab Today • notes from all the (frequent subcommittee meetings) • more stuff
QoL Things Not Done • Invite APS to investigate QoL for female users – though – maybe there is a way to do this through a Lab subcommittee chaired by Cathy Newman-Holmes • Take a formal poll of any kind • Run a “Career Night”
Things still in progress • More recycling – need to better connect the GSA (J. Gemmel) with Eric Mieland • Batavia Library cards for Village residents – Bruce Chrisman has a hold on this • Female-only sports league and resources (can get $?) -> Heather Hall • A whole small dorm or house instead of a corner of Aspen east
