Kidneys • What is the Renal function of kidneys? The renal function is the efficiency at which the kidneys filter blood. People with two healthy kidneys have 100 percent of their kidney function. Kidney function is now calculated using a blood sample and a formula to find the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). The eGFR corresponds to the percent of kidney function available. For many people with reduced kidney function, a kidney disease is also present and will get worse. Serious health problems occur when people have less than 25 percent of their kidney function. When kidney function drops below 10 to 15 percent. • Why would the Kidneys fail? Most Kidney disease attack the neurons, Causing them to lose their filtering capacity. The two most common causes of kidney disease are diabetes and high blood pressure. People with a family history of any kind of kidney problem are also at risk of kidney disease.

Ureters • There are two Ureters, one leading from each kidney to the urinary bladder. Each of these transports urine from the renal pelvis of the kidney to which it is attached, to the bladder. • Both of the Ureters pass below the Urinary bladder, which end up in the bladder compressing the urethras and preventing back flow of urine when pressure in the bladder is high during urination. This prevention of backflow is important because when it is not operating correctly cytis, which is inflammation of the urinary bladder, may develop in a kidney infection. • Each Ureters is a small tube 25-30 cm long. • The wall of each ureter consist of three layers.
Bladder • The bladder is a spherical, muscular organ that stretches as it collects and retains urine from the kidneys. Pelvic floor muscles and sphincter muscles also help control how the bladder works. The ureter deposits urine into the bladder, and the urethra expels the urine. The bladder is positioned in the abdomen in small children. In women, the bladder is positioned near the uterus. And, in males, the bladder sits between the pubic area and the rectum. • Cancer of the bladder typically begins in the inner cells of the bladder, according to resources at the Mayo Clinic. Symptoms include back pain, frequent or painful urination, abdominal pain, blood in the urine and frequent bladder infections. Even after the cancer is cured or removed, bladder cancer return rates are high and individuals return for frequent cancer screenings for years afterward to monitor for any returning cancer cells.
Urethra • The urethra is tubular shaped, responsible for the transport of urine from the bladder to the outside of the body. • This is the tube that exits liquid waste. • Mucous membranes are the inner lining of the tube, and it is surrounded by a muscular layer. • 2 muscles: The internal urethral sphincter muscle and the lower voluntary muscle.
