Savanna -- Abiotic Factors • 1. Soil -- The soil is very good in the savannas during the summer when it is very hot and wet. This helps the plants grow big and strong and it gives food for the animals. • 2. Climate --The climate is both a very wet (summer) and dry (winter) place. The savanna climate has a temperature range of 68° to 86°. • 3. Sunlight --The savanna sunlight has a mix of sun and clouds during the summer wet season. In the winter dry season, there is more sunlight because there are fewer clouds.
Savanna -- Special adaptations • In the savanna climate there is a distinct dry season, which is in the winter. Savannas get almost all their rain in the summer months. During the distinct dry season of a savanna, most of the plants shrivel up and die or go dormant. Some rivers and streams dry up. Most of the animals migrate to find food Because the savanna plants can’t provide them food anymore. To survive the dry season, plants have grown long roots to suck all the moisture out of the ground in the summer. Trees will lose their leaves to preserve water during the winter.
