My name is Lukey and I am a happy water molecule. At the moment I am in the beautiful Los Angeles River. Although I love it here, I know my stay here is going to be short because eventually I will be heated by the sun, devoured by ducks, or float downstream. Here, at the LA River, I see many things; ducks, cars on the side of the freeway, and bike riders riding along the bike path. I know it is early now, so the sun has not heated me up yet to take me away. Now I feel it, the sun is heating me up. Here I go!
Hi, my name is Mindy and I am going to tell you about my cycle. It all starts on the surface of the Pacific Ocean where I love to hang out with the rest of my water molecule friends and my neighbors, the salt molecules. As I am surfing, I am having so much fun. I can feel the sun trying to pull on me but since I love the ocean and my friends, I do not want to go. The ocean is so blue and beautiful. The sound of the waves and the feel of the rest of the water molecules makes me happy. I want to stay in the ocean. Please do not take me away.
Momma always said, “Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you’re gonna get.” Momma also never told me of the journeys I’d be facing each and every day. Well now that my momma has been taken from me, It almost seems as if my life is a repeating cycle, only, I really have no control. Its always mother nature that predicts when and where I go. I just hope I can find my mommy.
My life seems to repeat all the time. One day I’m in a lake, the next week I’m in a stream or underground. Not only do I have to deal with living in a new place all the time, but that darn sun is always pulling me up to the sky! My life is one big circle!
Juanito, the water molecule, was frolicking in the Hansen Dam watershed with all his friend. He enjoyed playing more than anything in the world. He never listened to anyone and like to be in control of his life. He especially didn’t listen to his mother earth and his father the sun. This all changed one day when a bird landed in the water next to him and caused him to come out of the water with a huge splash.
