  3. Discipline • Teacher detentions will be given for the following: • Throwing paper or other objects • Talking during the lesson • Not working when asked • Being on your phone without permission • Disruption of any kind

  4. Discipline • Make-up work policies: • Missing homework can be turned in at any time • Missing items that are GRADED must be turned in THE NEXT DAY along with a teacher detention before full credit can be earned • MORE than one day late requires study hall attendance, as well. • Otherwise, a 70 is given. • To re-take a test, you must complete: • 1) Learning packet online • 2) all homework • 3) Write a letter to Mrs. Raessler

Short Grammar Review • This year, we have discussed the following topics: • 1) Present tense • -stem changing verbs • -Go-go verbs • -ser vs. estar • -saber vs. conocer • 2) Present progressive (estar + ando/iendo) • -irregulars (-yendo) • 3) Reflexive verbs • 4) Preterite tense (14 irregulars) • 5) Imperfect tense (3 irregulars)

  12. Affirmative Commands • Affirmative commands, or “mandatosafirmativos,” are used to direct someone to do an action. • We will be talking about commands in the “tú” form.

  13. Affirmative Commands • It is SIMPLE! Just put the verb in the “usted” form. • Present tense (Ud.) Command (tú) • Ustedhabla. ¡Habla! • Ustedescribe. ¡Escribe! • Ustedvuelve. ¡Vuelve!

  15. Affirmative Commands • Try a few: • Open the door! -> ¡ Abre la puerta! • Talk to me! -> ¡Hablaconmigo! • Start your homework! -> Comienza la tarea!

  16. Affirmative Commands To add an object pronoun, place it on the end and add an accent to the verb. Sit (yourself) down! -> ¡ Siéntate! Give it to me. -> ¡Dámelo! Do we need a review of object pronouns??

  17. Affirmative Commands Object Pronouns REPLACE the object of the sentence. She gave it to us. Ella noslodio. Subject: She/Ella Verb: Gave/dio Direct Object (what is being given): it/lo Indirect Object (who receives the object): us/nos

Affirmative Commands IO Pronouns:DO Pronouns: me: me it (singular): lo, la you (inform.) : te it (plural): los, las him/her/you (form.): le us: nos them/y’all: les Exception: You can NEVER have two “L’s” together! Givehim the ice cream. Dále lo. -> You can’t say “Dálelo” Answer: Dáselo. The first “L” turns into a “se.”

  22. El condicional • The conditional tense is used to express something you WOULD DO. • You are going to use the –er/-ir chart of the imperfect. • Yo -ía Nosotros - íamos • Tú - ías • Él/Ella/Usted - ía Ellos/Ellas/Uds. - ían

  23. El condicional • However, instead of conjugating the verb, just ADD the appropriate ending to the verb. • Example: • Hablar -> Yohablaría • Comer -> Tú comerías • Sentarse -> Ella lesentaría

  24. El condicional • Irregulars: • Tener -> tendr- • Poner -> pondr- • Salir -> saldr- • Venir -> vendr- • Poder -> podr- • Saber -> sabr- • Hacer -> habr- • Decir -> dir- • Querer -> querr-

  25. El condicional • You use the conditional in Spanish the same as you do in English. The conditional expresses what would take place under certain conditions. • Ellospodríanllegar en menos tiempo, pero no quieren tomar el avión. • (They WOULD BE ABLE TO arrive in less time, buttheydidn’twanttotake a plane.)
