Spanish 2 Reflexive Verbs
Reflexive Verbs • Reflexive verbs are used to tell that a person does something to or for him- or herself. The action is Reflected back. The person who does the action also receives the action of the verb.
Reflexive Verbs • You must remember that these are actions being done to oneself, by oneself. For example: • I wash my (my own) hair.
Reflexive Verbs • Reflexive verbs have two parts: a reflexive pronoun (me, te, se, nos, se) and a verb form.
me (to or for myself) te (to or for yourself) se (to or for himself, herself, it) nos (to or for ourselves) se (to or for themselves, you all, or each other) Reflexive Pronouns
Reflexive Verbs LAVARSE(to wash oneself) Reflexive Pronoun Verb Form
me lavo te lavas se lava nos lavamos se lavan LAVARSE
Reflexive Pronouns • They can either go before a conjugated verb or after an infinitive or gerund. • Rember any time there are two verbs in a row, the second verb is not conjugated!
If the reflexive verb is the first verb in the sentence, conjugate it putting the reflexive pronoun in front of the conjugated verb. Ex: Yo_me lavo__ la cara.(lavarse) Ellos se lavan la cara.
**If the reflexive verb is the second verb in a sentence…it will not conjugate!!!**But you must change the se ending to match your subject.Ex: Me gusta lavarme la cara con jabón. (lavarse)Sara le gusta cepillarse los dientes con Crest. (cepillarse) Estoy lavandome la cara con jabón. (lavarse)

me cepillo te cepillas se cepilla nos cepillamos os cepilláis se cepillan CEPILLARSE = to brush
me ducho te duchas se ducha nos duchamos os ducháis se duchan DUCHARSE = to take a shower
