Bastille Day The Bastille was a Paris prison that also stored gunpowder and arms. July 14, 1789 (Celebrated in France like we celebrate the 4th of July) Angry, scared people began to gatherweapons. (What if the king attacks us?) A mob storms the Bastille and took control from the guards. Approx. 100 killed. French army refused to get involved – WHY? Marched through the streets with heads on pikes.
