VTS Cryostat • Preparations for fabrication underway at PHPK (Columbus, OH) • Biweekly phone conferences • 3 change orders by end of this week (2nd top plate, holes in top plate, attaching ring segments) • Fermilab supplied instrumentation on its way • Valves from Cryolab (Leslie Controls, Inc.) are 2 months late; so far not affecting schedule • We are impressed by PHPK’s commitment to keeping schedule, and working with us to fulfill requirements • Magnetic shielding purchase requisition by the end of this week C.M.Ginsburg ILC/SRF 05.Nov.06

  3. More VTS progress • Radiation Shielding (Igor, Valeri) • Shielding design update by Igor for updated (realistic) geometry; technical memo update soon • Shielding lid layout and movement by Valeri well advanced; beginning costing • RF System (Joe, Roger) • Assembly and in-house fabrication underway and on schedule • All components including racks have arrived except vector modulator (ok) • 500W CW amplifier specs to be measured by John Reid • MFR Ophir: performs better than specs • Cryo system tie-in has begun (Yuenian, Charlie Hess) • Variable coupler design (Andrei Lunin) and thermometry system design (Aseet Mukherjee) underway for beyond-the-baseline C.M.Ginsburg ILC/SRF 05.Nov.06

Planning for operation (ORC) • Electrical Safety (Jim Garvey) • General Safety (Rich Ruthe) • Cryo-mechanical Safety (Bill Soyars (AD)) • Engineering documentation to be available one month before desired operation • FMEA, What-if analysis underway (Mayling) • Radiation Safety (Kamran Vaziri (ES&H)) • Kamran is up to speed on expected radiation and shielding design - so far so good • RF personnel safety interlocks design by Chuck Worel (AD) and Joe submitted to Kamran Oct. 27 • Plan for location of area radiation monitors and operational procedures with Sue McGimpsey (ES&H, Acting Radiation Safety Officer for VTS) underway C.M.Ginsburg ILC/SRF 05.Nov.06
