  3. About ESEA reauthorization • Federal policy • Accountability measures • Including online • No Child Left Behind • State and Charter Schools • Also online schools

  4. Data Privacy • State and federal policy • Data sharing • Restrictions • Online classes • Classrooms • Use of websites

  6. Charter Schools/Virtual Schools • Charter Schools exist in 42 states and the district of Columbia. • 7 States are without charter schools • Virtual Schools are beginning to evolve. • The early, the better chance that students will be successful.

  7. ESEA reauthorization • ESEA is under current version (No Child Left Behind). Which sets the frameworks for accountability under states measure schools with ramifications for state assessments and other measurements. • Waivers are being used in many states from specific NCLB requirements that are granted by the U.S. • The Obama Administration granted many of these states the waivers.

  8. Data Privacy • 182 bills have been introduced in 46 states, and 28 laws have been passed in 15 states. • This does not negatively impact digital learning. • Some just have provisions that restrict ways that data can be shared in which some may be difficult in online learning.

  9. Assessment • Can charter schools and virtual schools connected? • Are policies most effective when all states are governed by them? • Does digital learning add positive or negative to online learning? • IS NCLB still effective?
