King Abdulaziz Public Library (KAPL) was founded by King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in 1985 as unprofitable institution. • KAPL going beyond the traditional concept of the library, primarily concerned with human being and the development aspects of the intellectual, on our culture and heritage.

  3. KAPL with 2.5 million items are considered as the biggest public library in the region. KAPL has implemented several projects such as the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosque Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Award for Translation, the project of Arabic Union Catalogue (AUC), Encyclopedia of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the National Cultural Project for revival of Reading.

  4. KAPL holding a valuable collection of books, periodicals, manuscripts, rare islamic coins, rare maps and photographs.

  5. KAPL projects for Digitization and indexing its Collection To enhance the value of its services to the public, KAPL has started digitization of its collections, these will be made available on the Library's official website for the benefit of researchers and scholars wherever they may be in the World.

  6. KAPL Digitization projects: • Digitized its publications (Books, Periodicals). • Digitized its entire manuscripts collection (10.000) =3 Million Page. • Digitized (7000) rare Islamic coins. • Digitized (800) rare maps. • Digitized (5000) rare photographs. • Digitized (100.000) personal document.

  7. AUC provides online cataloging services to (3000) libraries in the Arab States. Any library can participate in the AUC, and search in its master bibliographic database. Recently, we launched new services that allow the public to have a free access to AUC. Also, we launched gates for libraries in each Arab country.
