Communications Summary Objective Baltic States prepare for deployment while building relationships with NATO partners. Proposed Themes Exercise Objectives • Conduct Mission Readiness Exercise (MRX) for partner nations preparing to deploy to Afghanistan in support of ISAF • Establish first time capability to execute distributed computer assisted exercise in a multi-national environment in order to increase training audience participation while significantly reducing exercise costs • Improve NATO and coalition interoperability and strengthen the relationship between military forces of the US, Baltic nations and other participating nations while synchronizing efforts with existing regional partnerships • Propose draft BDE level NATO SOP to enhance future interoperability • Complement existing host nation training plans while supporting their overall training programs • Exercise regional host-nation-support function in support of joint and combined RSO of participating forces (linked with BALTOPS) • Enhance confidence and security assurance with NATO allies • The US, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have a valued partnership • Strengthened partnerships and increased interoperability benefit all participants • Saber Strike 12 enhances the confidence and security assurance with NATO allies • Saber Strike is major readiness exercise for partner nations preparing to deploy to Afghanistan (ONLY AFTER DEPLOYMENT ANNOUNCEMENT IS COMPLETE BY MOD) Key Engagement Events • Opening and Closing Ceremonies • DV/Media Days – Estonia (12 JUN) Amari Air Base /Latvia (13 JUN) STX • Senior Leader Engagements (USEUCOM/USAREUR) • Other Significant Events of Interest (CPX, Marine Offload, Cross border mvmt of the Marines, Air Deployment of Stryker, Air Force Participation, TOX, live ordnance by JTAC) • Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have contributed greatly to OEF and other international operations. All partners benefit from cooperative training efforts • This exercise continues to prepare potential partners for future operations • US efforts should in no way be seen as a threat to Russia or its interests • Through a fiscally responsible approach, we achieve maximize training benefits for all nations.
