About Phoebe • She is the Titan Goddess of the “bright” intellect • Phoebe's name was associated with the Greek words phoibos, "bright" or "radiant,“ “to purify” or “to give prophesy” • She’s often Gold-Crowned in depictions and renditions • Phoebe doesn’t have a symbol but is often associated with the moon, but Selene, Artemis, and Hecate were the official lunar goddesses.

Phoebe’s Family • Her parents were Ouranos (God of the Sky) and Gaia (the earth) • Her husband is Koios, one of the Titans • Her children are Leto and Asteria - Asteria was the Titan goddess of the oracles and prophecies of night, including prophetic dreams, the reading of the stars (astrology), and necromancy (communicating with the dead). She was also very beautiful like her sister and therefore pursued by Zeus. In order to escape from his embraces, she transformed herself into an island Asteria, later known as Delos. - Leto was one of the female Titanes and the mother of the twin gods Apollo and Artemis. She was the goddess of motherhood and with her children, a protector of the young. She became pregnant with Zeus's child, which made Zeus’s wife Hera so furious she drove Leto from island to island, preventing her from giving birth. Leto was finally provided with refuge by her sister Asteria who welcomed her to literally reside on her.

Myths • She became the third prophet at the Oracle of Delphi, where she was believed to have heard her mother`s voices. Her predecessors were Gaea and Themis. Gaea honorably gave away her place to her daughter Themis who then gave it to her sister Phoebe. However, according to Aeschylus`s myth, Phoebe had felt like having extreme burden to carry and gave away her place to her grandson Apollo as a present for his birthday, probably to motivate him. Apollo then presided over the prophetic power of light and heavens.
