  2. Balls and the Sponsorship • Adidas created the new Jabulani ball which caused a lot of controversy due to the fact that the ball was not suitable to play with. Scientists from Japan have criticised the ball by saying that it is too light and when playing with it, is unpredictable in which direction it would go in.

  3. ITV ticket scandal • Former football player and commentator for the world cup Robbie Earle was “let go” from ITV due to him using his tickets for unauthorised purposes. • The tickets which should have gone to friends and family were given to a third party. The third party were 36 women branding orange tops advertising Bavaria Beer. This is known as “ambush marketing”.

  4. Rogue Advert during England's first goal (ITV) • Fans eagerly watched England’s first 2010 world cup game; Bonus in HD but fans watching the game on HD missed the first England goal due to a car advert promoting Toyota appeared on screen instead of the goal. Many fans were outraged and complained to ITV, as a result ITV had to apologise for the big mistake that the institution had made.
